Greetings Earthlings,
Growing up is awfully hard. Looking back to my younger years, I often times wonder how I made it?! Bullying, changing schools, trying to fit in, trying to keep friendships, dealing with home life..there is so much that adults don't give us credit for! That's what this blog is about.

A major part of what helped me deal with the craziness in life was finding my joy. I had a lot of time to myself. I took that time to write, paint, sing, do homework, talk to my grandma, and mostly watch the disney channel (WHO CAN BLAME

I want each person reading this to think about what makes them special. What is it that you do thats different from all your friends? Those things are the ones to celebrate! Not only can they end up making you a bunch of money one day if you stick to it - but it is so much fun to do what you love! Imagine waking up EACH day and only doing what you love? Great life huh?
What makes you different? What is YOUR joy?

  1. I must say I didn't expect any of my classmates to mention anything like this in their blog, let alone dedicate the entire blog to it. But I agree with you 100%. Growing up was hard especially in the preteen years on into middle school. It's scarey. You are going through the process of finding out who you are and what makes you, YOU. So I understand exactly where you are coming from. During this time for me, I dealt with a lot of switching up friends and because I was a tomboy no one really accepted me. My thing was..I wanted to play basketball, write poetry, and sing. I didn't care with who, what time of the day, it was just me. My poetry, music, and basketball was all I cared about. It made me different but I never lost my passion for those things. They are still here with me today and the reason I attend FSO (music part of course lol). Thank You for this post. I enjoyed it!!!

  2. thank you so much for this post shae! what kept me going was writing and cheerleading. i would have gotten in so much trouble growing up without them! it was all i cared about! anddd three cheers for fort worth! i met a lot of people from fort worth last year when i went to howard! best of luck to you and everything you are doing!
